I thought Rare Essence played after them? I see in google a reference to Rare Essence and Fugazi but don’t see specifics re that evening. I recall seeing both but forget whether they were on same night.

I was at this show. Everyone left after Fugazi and missed a pretty good reggae band. My friend who didn't really enjoy the Fugazi set wondered why everyone left before the good band came on. Ha!

Chuck Brown played the Folklife Festival that year too! What a great time...

Great show, can't wait for it to post. When the Live Series CDs first came out, I e-mailed Joe about this recording. He said I was already the second one to ask (which was a first at the time). Can't wait to hear it all these years later--the Folklife Festival is always a treat and this year was excellent.
