Check/Money Order payments ship after funds clear. If your card is declined, try PayPal as an alternative.

We accept major credit cards, PayPal, checks, and money orders. Cash is accepted at your own risk (conceal it well!). International customers must pay in US funds.

International orders ship within 48 hours via USPS First-Class Mail International (most affordable option). The USPS no longer provides official transit estimates for this service. Packages may be delayed in customs.

The most common reason (besides insufficient funds) is incorrect billing address information.

Our bank requires address verification including street address and 5-digit postal code.

International customers: If your postal code has only 4 digits, try adding a zero at the end, or use PayPal instead. A "pending" charge may appear briefly but no funds are transferred for declined transactions.

Have your order number ready and contact us:

Note: Packages returned due to bad/incomplete addresses may incur extra shipping charges.

Dischord doesn't sell shirts directly. Dischord co-owner Jeff Nelson sells official shirts through Pedestrian Press.
These are the only official, authorized Dischord shirts.

About the Label

Yes! We sell direct to independent shops nationwide, carrying all Dischord releases plus hundreds of DC-area bands, labels, books and DVDs. Contact [email protected] for a catalog.

Our records are available from independent distributors including:

All Media Supply, Cobraside, Day After, FAB, Forced Exposure, Green Hell, Konkurrent, Revelation, Revolver, Sound of California, Stickfigure, URP, X-Mist, and more.

SRD distributes Dischord exclusively in the UK and non-exclusively in Europe.

Dischord Direct sells directly to Japan, Europe, and other territories. Contact us for distribution info in your region.

We print our mail-order price so customers know they can buy directly from us at a fair price.

However, it's reasonable for stores to charge $1-2 more. They have overhead costs and offer convenience and variety. We absolutely support independent record shops!

No. We are a mail-order and wholesale distributor without a public storefront.

The label is no longer run from the "Dischord House" seen on album covers. Our current office is small, and visitors tend to interrupt our work.

Ian maintains an office in the Dischord House, but it's primarily a residence. The Beecher Street address is actually Ian's parents' family home.

We only release music from DC because this is where we live, work, and have the deepest understanding. Expanding would dilute our focus. We encourage creative people to take control of their local scenes and create their own opportunities.

We work with bands through an organic process based on friendship and trust (no contracts). New bands join when they've made a mark in our community and there's mutual agreement we'd be a good fit.

Dischord is one of several independent labels that collectively make up the DC underground.

Half-label releases (e.g. DIS 110.5) are co-releases with other labels or self-released by artists with Dischord assistance.

Our remastered CDs present faithful reproductions from original source tapes, remastered by Silver Sonya in Arlington, VA.

Digital technology improved dramatically since the late 80s/early 90s. Around 2001, we began replacing masters as titles came up for repressing.

You don't need to replace original CDs u2014 they're not defective. The main difference is a slight boost in volume and clarity. View remastered CDs

In late 2008, we brought vinyl production back to the USA, re-cutting our catalog at Chicago Mastering Service using Silver Sonya masters. All reissues include complimentary MP3 downloads.

Unlike our CD remasters, these LPs are simply "fresh cuts" using new materials\u2014not artistic improvements. View remastered LPs

Mastering occurs after recording and mixing. Material is collected from source tapes/computers, transferred to a single medium (usually digital), and run through equalization to achieve uniform tone and volume across all tracks. CDs and LPs require different mastering specifications.

Fugazi is on indefinite hiatus with no plans to tour or record. This may be permanent\u2014only time will tell.
