In Keep Your Ear to the Ground, the archivist and musician John R. Davis (Q And Not U) unveils the development of punk fanzines and their role in supporting DC's hardcore and punk scene from the 1970s into the twenty-first century. He sheds new light on DC's scene and highlights some of its key personalities, including many who are often left out of punk history, with high-quality images of rare zines and insights from numerous interviews with zine creators and musicians. Continuals follow up their 2024 self-titled debut album with “Never Sleep.” Thirteen songs.  Melissa Quinley (Soccer Team, Joy Viver) joins the band on keyboards, and sings lead vocals on nine songs. She and guitarist and singer Ryan Nelson (Soccer Team, The Most Secret Method), bass player Michael Honch (Alarms & Controls, Samuel S.C.), and drummer Darren Zentek (Kerosene 454, Channels), recorded these songs in Baltimore, MD with J. The Owner’s new six-song EP, Monster, is out now—a split release between Dischord Records and Red Room Records—recorded at Ivakota in Washington, DC. The Owners are Dante and Catherine Ferrando, Laura Harris, and Alec Budd, whose members have played in Ex Hex, The Shirks, Gray Matter, Iron Cross, and The Problematics, among others.

Recorded just a few months before the legendary Faith/Void LP was released Recorded by Tom Lyle from Government Issue, with photos from Jim Saah and art from Jason Farrell, Void - Live 1982. THE ROAD is an illuminating selection of photographs spanning iconic punk rock guitarist Brian Baker’s many years of global touring with Bad Religion, Dag Nasty, and other bands. The images are intelligent and arresting, reflecting time spent both inside and outside the bubble of backstages and tour buses.

While touring is easily glamorized, all traveling musicians know that twenty-two hours of every day lack the lights, glitter, and other rock-and-roll trappings. For Baker, some of that time is spent photographing what interests him most in his surroundings. As revealed in The Road, his fascinations range from bizarre highway signage; to unsettling figurines, mannequins, and statuettes; to religious iconography that carries extra weight when one considers the ethos of a band called Bad Religion; to steaming cups of espresso and classic diner meals; to guitars, guitars, and more guitars; and so much more.

The Road is designed in collaboration with award-winning photographer and curator Jennifer Sakai. The volume is penned by all of the band members, combining historical interviews and personal journals, with present-day conversations, anecdotes, recollections, and reflections yielding new poetry and prose. The writing is complemented by over one hundred unpublished images. This mix of styles touches on band facts and timelines while also spotlighting the negative space around the band: personal and interpersonal moments of its members and the broader community and culture in which they were immersed. The Elusive formed in 1997. Following the breakup of their band, Corm, Alex Ficker, Dan Chu, and John Davis decided to form a new band that would tour that summer behind only a demo tape. Rounded out by Ian Chu and Chris Richards, the band wrote 6 songs and played shows in the midwest and mid-Atlantic. Created as a short-term project, the Elusive's last show was April 28, 1998 in D.C. MYSTIC 100’S from Washington State have maintained a cult following and underground existence since 2008.  Double Live! is their first live record, and features the band once again as a quartet (Alex Coxen, Abby Dahlquist, Joe Rutter, Charles Waring). It was captured in 2024 at two separate shows (Oakland & Philadelphia), unbeknownst to the band at the time.  Limited pressing of 500 on 140g vinyl with gatefold tip-on sleeve. More than 20 years after recording their last record, Cough, Black Eyes returns with Hostile Design. The album is comprised of six all-new songs, written directly in the wake of the band’s April 2023 reunion shows.

Hostile Design was recorded at Tonal Park studios over three days, with Ian MacKaye resuming his role as producer and Don Godwin engineering. The instrumentation returns to Cough’s two drums, bass, guitar and sax lineup, but adds some fresh elements. Live multichannel dubbing, now a standard of their shows, has been integrated into the performances, as have electronic drum triggers and samples as well as the occasional bass clarinet passage. In the years since their initial dissolution, each member has pursued their own creative paths, including drone rock, avant techno, ambient, sonic collage, visual art, video work and more. In coming back together, the breadth of their collective practices are all integrated into the music.

Light Beams’ new two-song 7" is out now, released as a co-release between Dischord Records and Lovitt Records. The record features tracks recorded by Zach Goldstein at Kawari Sound in Wyncote, PA, and by Justin Moyer at the band’s own Solar Power Station in Washington, D.C. Light Beams continue to carve out their own space in the post-punk landscape. The band will be playing select shows throughout the remainder of the year in support of the release.
