On January 26th, we'll be reissuing Shudder to Think's Ten Spot on LP. Originally released in 1990 and long out of print, this was the band's second album and first record on Dischord. This pressing of Ten Spot is on blue vinyl and has been remastered from the original tapes. It's available for pre-order now via the Dischord website and Bandcamp page.
Punk the Capital - Backflip Book
A flipbook capturing Bad Brains' singer HR executing a perfectly-timed backflip during a 1980 performance at Washington, D.C.'s 930 Club. The images in the book are frames from Paul Bishow's Super-8 feature film, Wet Streets at Night, and will be featured in Bishow and James Schneider's forthcoming documentary, Punk the Capital.
Object Collection - It's All True
It's All True is an "opera-in-suspension" developed by the New York-based ensemble Object Collection. Created by composer Travis Just and writer/director Kara Feely, the work is formed entirely from incidental music, text, and sounds drawn from Fugazi's Live Series archive (none of the band's actual songs are included). Available on CD and LP via Slip Records.
Object Collection - Prisons For Profit
A 7" single, Prisons For Profit is the companion release to Object Collection's It's All True and features three songs that were not included on the album.
Big Hush - Spirit/Wholes
This LP compiles the first two cassette EPs by Washington, D.C. quartet, Big Hush. The music draws some inspiration from '90s shoegaze/indie-pop, but the songs also have a wobbly/ungridded sense of rhythm that's very much unique to the band (in a cool way). Features members Pygmy Lush and Flasher. Recommended!
Bless - Yr Always On TV
New 3-song single by Bless, which is made up of folks from Cool People, Flasher, and Big Hush. Excellent jittery and manic garage/pop songs that at times recall early Devo. Also recommended!
We are saddened to learn of the murder of our friend Fred Smith, also known as FREAK. He was 55 years old. Fred was the guitarist in Beefeater -- who released two albums on Dischord during the mid '80s -- and later went on to perform in Strange Boutique and, after moving to Los Angeles, a number of other bands. You can read more about Fred's life here and find information on his funeral arrangements here.
Ian Svenonius' Chain & the Gang will release a new album, Experimental Music, this fall on Radical Elite Records. The session was recorded live to four track at World Class Tapes in Ann Arbor, MI and features contributions from members of Tyvek and the Gories.
You can pre-order it now through the Dischord website and also via Bandcamp
This fall, Dischord will release Eyes to the Light, the debut album by Washington, D.C. trio, the EFFECTS. Robbins at Magpie Cage in Baltimore, Maryland and will be out on CD/LP/Digital September 29th. You can pre-order it now via the Dischord website and also through Bandcamp. The band will be playing dates throughout the East Coast and Midwest this fall.
Snail Mail - Habit
The six-song debut EP by Baltimore-area singer/songwriter Lindsey Jordan (aka Snail Mail), who was still a high school student at the time of this recording. Teenage melancholy and open tuned guitars. "Thinning" is the "hit," but they're all keepers. Originally released last year on cassette, the EP has now been pressed on vinyl by Sister Polygon Records.
In August, Scream will travel to the UK for a handful of shows, including stops in London, Leeds, and Blackpool. This will be the classic lineup featuring Pete Stahl, Franz Stahl, Skeeter Thompson, and Kent Stax with additional guitarist Clint Walsh. You can find the complete date and venue information on our tours page. It's also worth noting that the band's final full length, Fumble, is back in stock on LP. This current pressing is on black vinyl.
Cool Moon - Post Party Depression
The debut album by Houston, TX trio Cool Moon. A record of loud and heartfelt rockers from former D.C. resident and Del Cielo (Lovitt Records) member Andrea Lisi. You can read a short interview with the band and preview a track here.
Chain & the Gang - The Best of Crime Rock
The definitive primer/history lesson on Ian Svenonius' "Crime Rock" band, courtesy of In the Red Records. This album features recent re-recordings of Chain "hits" like "Devitalize," "Certain Kinds of Trash," and "Mum's The Word" recorded by the group's latest and greatest lineup.
Bikini Kill - New Radio
A reissue of Bikini Kill's three-song New Radio single. Originally released in 1993, the 7" was produced by Joan Jett at Avast Studios in Seattle, WA and includes one of the more beloved versions of the BK classic, "Rebel Girl."
Flasher - Winnie b/w Burn Blue
Two new songs by Washington, D.C. trio Flasher. A forward move from their previous EP in terms of arrangement and home studio know-how. A-side is quick and catchy while the flip goes long and woozy.
A new song and a remix by Washington, D.C. trio Puff Pieces (ex-Antelope). The A-side was recorded by Ian MacKaye and Don Zientara at Inner Ear Studios.

Comet Gain - Realistes
Among the finest works by London's Comet Gain. Indie-pop as agit-prop. Songs of bitterness and moodiness. Guitars by Jon Slade (Huggy Bear) and guest vocals from Kathleen Hanna. Originally released by Kill Rock Stars in 2002, the album has now been reissued on LP courtesy of M'Lady's Records. (Recommended)
Comet Gain - City Fallen Leaves
Comet Gain's fifth album. Originally released on CD in 2005, M'Lady's has now pressed the record to vinyl for the first time ever as a 2xLP. Also quite excellent.

The Sorts - Six Plus
The sixth and final album by the mellow Washington, D.C.-based funk/post-rock outfit, The Sorts. Formed in 1994, the band was anchored by guitarist Josh LaRue (HiM), drummer Chris Farrall (Hoover), and bassist Stuart Fletcher. Originally released only on CD in 2003, Bcore has now given the record its first-ever vinyl pressing.
Regulator Watts - The Mercury LP
Guitarist Alex Dunham's post-Hoover trio with Arief Sless-Kitain and Cret Wilson. Mercury was first released as a four song 12" EP in 1996 and then later expanded into a full-length CD that compiled a number of the band's singles and rarities. It's now on LP for the first time courtesy of Bcore.
This spring, The Make-Up will reunite for a series of performances at the Primavera Sound festival in Barcelona, Spain and Porto, Portugal. Before the band heads overseas, they'll also perform a warm up gig at the Black Cat in Washington, DC. These will be The Make-Up's first shows since 2013.
Bless - S/T
Seven songs by bizzaro Washington, D.C. rock outfit, Bless. Skewed guitar riffs that at times recall Devo, but also the more eccentric reaches of the Teenbeat Records family. Lineup includes members of Flasher, Cool People, Dudes, and Big Hush. "I Want It" is a pretty great. You can preview this release digitally here. (Recommended)
Coup Sauvange & the Snips - Heirs to Nothing
The debut album by Washington, D.C. dance/pop outfit, Coup Sauvage & the Snips. Weirdo house-party music with electronic rhythms and call and response vocals. Features Jason Barnett of Gauche and Hott Beat.
Jason Simon - Familiar Haunts
The second solo album by Dead Meadow guitarist, Jason Simon. Eight stripped down folk songs soaked in reverb and augmented with lo-fi psychic jewelry. Preview or purchase this record digitally here. Recommended.
Channels – J. Robbins, Janet Morgan, and Darren Zentek -- have recently reactivated and will release a new two-song digital single on January 20th. Formed in 2003, the trio completed an EP and a full-length record before going on indefinite hiatus. “Backpfeifengesicht” and “Airstrip 1” are the first new music recorded by the band in nearly 10 years. The single will be available via Bandcamp, iTunes, and directly from the Dischord website. Artwork comes courtesy of Ryan Nelson.
